Neeli Community

We are also known as Neelgars and officially recognised as a backward community in the state of Andhra Pradesh. We are traditional weavers involved in producing fine cotton and silk fabrics. We have also been successful in marketing our produce in urban centres. Which is why, perhaps Neelis are spread all over the world. Our weavers are celebrated for their high quality cloth weaving skills. Today, many urban Neelis have abandoned our ancestral profession and diversified into other activities.
